So... the latest stint of financial hardship didn't have to happen at all. It was my fault entirely. See below.

There is a link between our old bank account and the new. It was used initially to move funds from the old to the new, and my intention after this was done was to close the link and end our relationship with that bank forever.

I forgot to do this.

Due to a misclick on our new bank's website, $500 ended up sloshed back to the old bank without my knowledge. This led to a chain reaction that made me afraid we had somehow outstripped our means of living by a huge amount. Hence the financial woes post earlier this month.

I discovered this missing amount completely by accident; my brother wanted The Burning Crusade (WoW expansion) for his birthday and requested it early, since his new ship-out date for the Navy is October 30th and he will be unable to enjoy the game after that. I was looking at an old Visa card we had with our old bank to see if there was credit enough to cover it and had a glance at the old checking account while there, and sure enough, there were the missing funds!

It was one of those moments in life, one of those times where it feels as though a gigantic rock has rolled off of your chest. You can breathe again, and you do. A smile breaks out on your face and your eyes close in bliss as you realize all is, in actuality, right with the world.

Then you get up and you want to dance.

Glad you found your money. I can imagine you'd feel both frustrated and excited at the same time.

I always like finding "free" money, though not usually in those circumstances.

I think we still have a bank account or two that still have a bit of money in them. They probably don't account for more than $50 though.

Also, I guess I didn't realize your bro was headed off to the Navy. Tell him Joshua and I wish him good luck.
